What is the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria ?

The JEE Main eligibility criteria are set by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Students must meet these conditions to appear for the exam:

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). Detailed syllabus: JEE Main Syllabus.

2. Year of Passing 12th

  • Students who passed Class 12 in 2024, 2025, or are appearing in 2026 are eligible.
  • Candidates who passed before 2024 are not eligible.

3. Age Limit

There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main, but the candidate must satisfy the age criteria of institutes such as NITs and IIITs if applying for admission.

4. Number of Attempts

Candidates can appear in JEE Main twice a year (Session 1 and Session 2). They are allowed a maximum of 3 consecutive years of attempts.

5. Subject Combination in Class 12
